Meet
Champagne Troubadour. Troubadour is an extremely rare Silver Classic Champagne Rocky stud
colt with an outstanding foundation pedigree. Click here to see his beautiful pedigree: Trou's
Pedigree.
There are a very limited
number of Classic's registered in ANY breed, and we are fortunate
and very blessed to have him eventually standing at our farm. The
coat of a Champagne horse is hard to describe and even harder to
photograph. It is shiny and very silky smooth, because of the
special characteristics of each hair shaft. Trou has a purple
sheen to him as well. It's incredibly beautiful.
His
color genetics say he is homozygous black, single
silver, single champagne, which means he can sire only black based
foals:
-
chocolate and
white
-
red
chocolate,
-
classic champagne,
-
amber champagne
-
straight black or bay
The
foal color is dependent on the color genetics of the mare. He will never sire a
golden champagne, red or sorrel foal, however if a buckskin or
palomino mare is bred to him and she produces the cream gene with
the champagne gene, the foal will appear to be a golden
champagne.
If you're
wondering what your mare could have here is a link to a color
calculator which will help you find out. His color is so rare,
they don't include it with silver in the calculator, so choose
Classic Champagne, and just know that you could get a silver
(Chocolate) colored foal in that equation. For instance, we plan to breed him to
black and bay
mares, so we have a 50/50 chance of getting a black based
champagne OR Silver (chocolate) foal, and sometimes both and will
look like Trou himself.
His
"double dilute" genetic makeup increases your odds of
getting a marketable colored foal in addition to his foundation
bloodlines since he carries TWO modifiers
to black in his genes, he is more likely to produce one or the
other every time he is bred. Once
he's Certified to breed in 2010, we will offer the same stallion
services for him, as for Hondo.
Trou
is a very sweet, outgoing, people oriented youngster, and into everything already. He's a
delightful addition to our family and eventually, breeding program.
We
hope you enjoy watching our journey, and perhaps will join us on a
ride one day. Until then, Happy Trails! |
