Hondo has wonderful, hard to find tried and true bloodlines with
horses who are the foundation for the breed. His
sire is by Broken Bone's Sam's Son and out of a Choco Mare. His
dam is a Maple's Squirrel Daughter. Click
here for his complete pedigree in .pdf format.
Hondo is registered and certified to breed in both the RMHA and the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse
Association. His Stud Fee is $500 with a live foal guarantee
and offer both live cover and artificial Insemination. For your convenience, we
can accept payments through
Paypal (additional fees apply).
We offer live
cover in the field or by in hand breeding in one of our 16 comfy stalls, and
Artificial Insemination (AI) collections through shipped cooled or frozen semen using the services of Harris
Paints. If you require an AI, we need at least 4 weeks prior
notice, since we ride him and he lives peacefully in our mixed gender
herd (a $250 booking fee applies). We will isolate him for a
period of 4 weeks prior to collection for the best possible
service. Transportation fees will apply for AI services. Because we offer
AI, mares in for live cover are required to have a negative serum
exposure test for Contagious Equine Metritis (CEM), Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA)
and negative Coggins prior to breeding. This does not apply to
Artificially inseminated mares.

He is as
intelligent, kind and gentle as a stallion can be.
There are not many stallions young or old who, when challenged by
being entered in a judged
pleasure ride his first time off the farm, can place 2nd out of
16 entries! And he is definitely producing that laid back,
intelligent temperament in his foals.
Our
small band of breeding mares for him is comprised strong gaited,
friendly palomino, buckskin and silver bay mares who are also
riding companions.
We believe in keeping him social (and happy) by allowing
him to live with his mares during breeding season, and in a field
of stud colts and geldings during non breeding times. We enjoy him for what he is,
our
family companion. Come visit him, you won't be disappointed!
