The Rocky Mountain Horse is best known for it's smooth natural 4 beat gait and gentleness. They are easy keepers and wonderful riding horses with a sweet, people oriented temperaments and lots of endurance. Many of these horses are descendents of Old Tobe, a stallion owned by Sam Tuttle who bred specifically for the smooth four beat saddle gait, and an excellent disposition.

John and I have fallen in love with this breed, and have chosen the path of "Breeders". In doing so, we are being careful to breed for the smooth gait and gentle disposition that makes the Rocky Mountain Horse what it is today. We also want to have healthy, correctly identified horses, and in order to do that, we are color testing our stock. This seems to be a rarity in this breed, and we want to encourage all who breed to do the same.

Color testing is especially important as it relates to a genetic eye condition called ASD, which has a suspected link to the Silver Dapple Gene that gives many of our horses that beautiful Chocolate color. Click here to read an extremely well written article about color as it relates to ASD by Paula Morgan from Triple S Ranch www.triple-s-ranch.com Thank you Paula for allowing me to publicly post this very well written piece!

We hope you enjoy watching our journey, and perhaps will join us on a ride one day. Until then, Happy Trails!
