Quiet Valley Farm's Appaloosa Horses We are embarking on a new and very challenging adventure! It has always been our dream to own a small horse farm, in order to love raise and train quality horses. We especially like to trail ride, camp and do parades! Go to the HorseStuff page to see some pictures!
The Appaloosa has a rich and fascinating history as unique as its colorful spotted coat patterns. The Nez Perce Indian tribe were once sedentary fisherman, but as a result of the addition of these Palouse or spotted horses, the tribes found greater mobility and power, altering their culture forever. Soon, the Nez Perce were famous throughout the Northwest, not only for their hunting skills and craftsmanship, but for the large herds of colorful horses, renowned for their strength, intelligence and great beauty. In 1937, the Palousa’s flashy coat patterns caught the eye of the public, when an article in Western Horseman magazine called “The Appaloosa, or Palouse Horse” encouraged a widespread interest in the breed. Today, the beautiful spotted horse is one of the most beloved and recognizable of American horse breeds. It can be found throughout the world, excelling in disciplines including western pleasure, games, working cow horses and even dressage. Appaloosas are prized for their easy-going dispositions and their reliability as family horses. We feel very blessed to have several of these amazing animals to call our own. |
